Magnesium is needed in over 300 biochemical reactions in the body
We need many key nutrients to function at optimum levels of health, but the role played by magnesium is particularly widespread through many body processes. Muscles, bones, cardiovascular health, blood sugar regulation, immunity, energy production and nerve function all require an adequate supply of magnesium. Magnesium is also used in the liver by several detoxification pathways (excess alcohol consumption can use up magnesium reserves). Magnesium is present in many foods but leafy green vegetables such as swiss chard and spinach, and nuts and seeds are particularly good sources.
